Ready-made list
Pick a book club discussion prompt
Book clubs stall when the loudest reader sets every question. A random prompt gives quieter members a structured on-ramp without forcing a rigid curriculum.
Pick one prompt to open discussion, or shuffle several for a longer meetup. Edit lines to match your current book.

Structuring a 90-minute club
Open with one shared Pick, then Shuffle three more prompts for the middle of the meeting. Close with a personal takeaway that is not on the list so the ending feels human, not mechanical.
Spoilers: agree whether late readers can pass before you draw plot-heavy questions.
Virtual clubs
Paste the picked prompt into chat so audio issues do not leave anyone behind. Download the night’s prompts for the group notes doc.
How to use this list
- 1
Tune for spoilers
Remove ending questions if half the club is still reading.
- 2
Pick the opener
Draw one prompt and put it at the top of the agenda.
- 3
Optional shuffle stack
Shuffle leftover prompts for facilitators who want a backup list.
Tips for this scenario
- Assign prompts to pairs with Pairs mode if the club is large.
- Nonfiction clubs should rewrite character prompts into argument/evidence language.
- Keep last month’s favorite prompt out of the pool deliberately.
